Logic4training’s New Entrant Smart Meter Installer – Power Training Course managed learning programme is for learners that are new to the industry and wish to learn how to install and exchange Power Smart Meters in domestic dwellings. It is also suitable for existing gas metering installers who are upskilling to dual fuel smart meter installers.
The Logic4training New Entrant Smart Meter Installer Training Course in Power is a Managed Learning Programme providing learners with the practical skills and underpinning knowledge to install power smart meters and to work safely in line with industry regulations, codes of practices and guidelines.
Learners will undertake learning at our training centre. This enables learners to practice and learn installing and exchanging power smart meters in a safe and controlled environment which simulates real work situations.
When the fundamental principles of installing and exchanging power smart meters have been learnt, learners commence their on-site supervised work practice under the supervision of a competent and experienced smart meter installer. This person acts as the learner’s mentor who provides advice, guidance and support, confirming when and where the learner has met the required standard for installing and exchanging power smart meters. During this mentoring period, learners will be required to build a portfolio of completed supervised work.
The final week includes initial CoMCoP assessments and NSAP-approved assessments for EUSR registration for Single-Phase, Multi-Rate & Single Phase off Multi-Phase.
The course costs include training, assessment, portfolio guidance and EUSR registration.
This course has no prerequisites, but suitable trainees will have an aptitude for practical tasks. Basic numeracy and literacy are required.
Candidates must be working for a company able to provide them with the required electric meter installation and exchange work experience needed for the portfolio element of the programme.
During the programme, you will cover the knowledge and practical skills for the following qualification units:
- Introduction to the industry
- Health & Safety Awareness & Regulations
- Carrying out risk assessments to ensure safety of self, others and property
- Correct use of tools & PPE
- Electrical Legislation
- Customer service to ensure CoMCoP (formally SMICOP/SMIS) Compliance
- Single-Phase, Multi-Rate & Single off Multi-Phase meter installations
- Earthing arrangements
- Identification of unsafe situations & scenarios and what actions to take
- Identification of different meter configurations
- Re-establishing existing gas supply & re-lighting appliances/plant
You will be able to remove, install, exchange, fault find & commission Single-Phase Smart Electric Meters.
Following this course, installers can look to upskill in Gas Smart Meters, Dual Fuel Smart Meters, Multi-Phase Power Meters, Heavy Duty Cut Out (HDCO) Awareness.
