Logic4training’s Silver Domestic Gas Heating Installer (DGHI) New Entrants package is an Managed Learning Programme (MLP) for aspiring professionals entering the gas, heating and plumbing industry without prior experience or qualifications.
This package includes a work placement to strengthen your portfolio.
Upon completion, you’ll be eligible for Gas ACS training and assessment, a prerequisite for joining the Gas Safe register.
Logic4training’s DGHI New Entrants course equips candidates with fundamental gas heating and plumbing principles, pipework skills, and expertise in heating design, gas safety, and hot water systems. Topics are presented in easily digestible sections.
With the industry transitioning to net zero 2050, there’s a pressing need for skilled heating installers. Training as a gas engineer offers a promising career installing, servicing, and maintaining the UK’s 23 million gas boilers. It establishes a solid foundation for future training in emerging technologies.
By choosing to become a domestic gas installer you are choosing a trade and career that will forever be in demand.
The DGHI new entrants course starts with the basic principles of gas heating and plumbing and pipework skills, leading to further areas such as heating design, gas safety and hot water systems.
As this is a Managed Learning Programme, all topics are broken down into easy-to-digest sections, with industry recognised qualifications and certificates of competence awarded on completion of each module.
This course consists of eight weeks in-centre training, supported by on-line training and assessment, followed by on-site work experience and ACS training and assessment.
Core training: Candidates will complete the DGHI New Entrants course and the Managed Learning Programme (MLP). Successful students will receive competence certificates for the different technical elements and an industry recognised MLP training certificate from LCL Awards once the on-site portfolio has been completed; necessary to access ACS gas training and assessment.
On-site work experience: Candidates will then be ready to start building an on-site portfolio. You can do your on-site portfolio and boiler installations with a Gas Safe Registered engineer of your choice or we can provide a portfolio building service. The silver, gold and platinum package includes this element in the price.
Boiler installations: Before starting your onsite portfolio you will need to undertake a Direct Observation of a boiler installation, service and repair within our centre, this is included within the cost of the programme. This takes place over 2 days. You will then need to complete and record within your portfolio, a further four boiler installations as required by the ACS scheme. You can do this with a Gas Safe Registered engineer of your choice. We will review your portfolio mid way through and make recommendations. If you are unable to complete all the tasks on site we may be able to carry the remaining tasks within our centre.
ACS assessment: Once the on-site portfolio and boiler installations have been completed and signed off you are ready to return to the centre to undertake refresher training and ACS gas assessment for CCN1 and CENWAT.
Come to one of our free introductory sessions in Northolt – you’ll be talked through the course and have a tour of the centre, as well as the chance to ask questions and meet the staff.
